The taste of venison (deer meat) has been described as ‘sweeter’ than beef. There’s less fat in venison than beef, which results in higher protein content.
Sometimes up to 70% protein in our dry biltong!

Biltong and Drywors are natural products and best enjoyed soon after purchase.
We recommend keeping it in a paper bag or natural container, open to the air. Biltong stores best when air circulation can keep it dry, and doesn't need to go in the fridge.
For storage longer than a few days, biltong freezes and thaws very well.

If stored as above, your biltong will be at its best for up to a week. It will continue to dry a little, through this period, but the great taste remains!

We started using only the meat from our own cull of Fallow Deer in the Ashdown Forest area of Sussex, but then the project grew!
Now we have to buy the extra fallow haunches from our gamedealers.
No
Meat from free-roaming wild animals is not able to be certified organic, as it isn’t produced in line with an accredited organic regime.
However, we think that they must have the best possible quality of life.
All the venison we use is from Wild Fallow Deer. There is a strong conservation argument for the management of this species, which makes this just about
the most responsible source of meat available in the UK.
We use Celery salt, in our curing process.
Although not ingredients in our Biltong, our production facility also handles
Cereals Containing Gluten, Fish, Milk, Egg, Mustard & Soybeans.
Sadly, therefore,
we are not able to guarantee that our biltong is free of these allergens.
Currently not.
However, it may be possible to make special batches of biltong, according to Halal principles.

Always popular is our wet biltong! The inside can still be pink like rare steak!
If you request it, our dry biltong can be drier than many others, especially those supplied in sealed packets. More like what you might have experienced in Africa.
Typical time for our free delivery is 2-4 working days.
If you’re in a rush, please choose one of the other options, or contact us to let us know.
No! We took on this principle right from the start.
Your biltong will be put in white Vegware paper bags (produced without chlorine) and closed with a paper sticker. The outer box is cardboard, sealed with paper based tape.
Not only is this system environmentally responsible, but it also gives your biltong the chance to breathe, which will keep it in perfect condition for longer. It means we don’t need to use the preservative measures that are often in other commercial biltong.
Sadly no.
We tried thinner boxes, but we didn’t think they could contain enough Biltong to keep you going! Our mailing boxes are the size of a small shoe box and can hold up to a kilo of sliced biltong (or even more as Whole Stick Biltong, or for Drywors).
